At The Front Porch, we do everything we can to help a community that has become part of our Front Porch family. This is why we are always so quick to support Christine’s Hope for Kids, a foundation that was started to help provide school supplies and a variety of supplies to children who need them most. Not only is this cause near and dear to us; Jean Gianacaci, a loyal customer, and her husband John, started the foundation in memory of her daughter Christine.
Christine was a girl who lived for others and to help others, and she tragically was taken far too young while trying to do so. Six and a half years ago, Christine was on a mission trip in Haiti when disaster struck in the form of an earthquake. Christine’s hotel collapsed and she was caught inside.
Since the foundation’s inception in 2010, The Front Porch has done everything we can to support this amazing cause. At Christmas time, we collect stuffed animals to help the foundation provide kids with what may be their only gift at that special time of year. We do the same again at Easter, to help Jean and Jon remind kids in need that someone cares about them.
Last year, after Jean told us she was able to purchase 1000 backpacks and fill them with donated supplies we found a new way to help. This year, we decided to sponsor a school supplies drive that we have aptly named, “Fill the Backpacks!” With the help of our amazing Front Porch Family and network, we have had amazing success so far! Contributions have come to us from far and wide, from many of our employees and customers alike, including our very own Kaylee and her aunt Mary Ellen pictured at left!
Donations have even come in from our wonderful Vera Bradley salesperson Kate Giovambattista and her family, pictured at left as well! News of this amazing cause reached all the way up to Vera Bradley headquarters, and we even got them on board with an amazing donation too!
Lastly, we have Kelsey from Christine’s Hope for Kids, shown below receiving donations from our owner Chris.
Thank you to all of our customers, business partners, employees and friends for your donations to this amazing cause. For anyone interested, the donation drive runs until Monday August 1st and here is the website for the foundation for anyone who wants more information about all that they do http://christineshope.org/
